Get More Done in 12 Weeks Than Others Do in 12 Months

I learned about a great book from Dr. Jon Ross, a periodontist from Cleveland (a great place by the way!). It’s called The Twelve Week Year written by Brian Moran. The subtitle to the book is “Get More Done in 12 Weeks Than Others Do in 12 Months.”

Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? I had to read it.

What the book teaches you to do is to focus on treating a 12 week period like you would an entire year. You define two, or maybe three of the most important things you want to get accomplished and why, determine the results you are looking to achieve, then outline the steps and the responsible parties to get it all implemented.

We have implemented the “12 Week Year” since July 2018, and have continued it ever since. We identify three projects each quarter; Two to grow revenue, one to retain clients. So, how it’s going? Well, we have had times when we got a bit behind in our schedule, BUT all of it WILL BE accomplished even if it is not complete by the deadline. It is still moving along nicely. Really, I think we’ve done pretty darn well with it!

The beauty of the 12 Week Year is that we have a clear, WRITTEN (this is KEY) plan of what needs to be done. We know where we are in the process of getting it done and just simply need to keep moving forward to make it happen. I couldn’t recommend this book more. I see it as a pivotal piece in meeting goals, even your personal ones.
