Breathe New Life into Your Marketing (Step 4)

We are now to the last step of reinvigorating your marketing. If you may have missed the first three steps you can start by reading Step One here.

The last step is your channels or the method by which you get your message to your market.

Your Channels (Step 4)

In this step it is time to evaluate your marketing wheel. A lot of times we find businesses keep doing the same things over and over but they no longer are getting solid results out of them. Usually we find these things are done out of habit, familiarity and ease. It’s scary to change and can feel uncomfortable treading in unknown waters.

But the reality is you can never get to the next level in your business if you aren’t willing to step out of your comfort zone. You should always keep your eyes on the horizon for new and different ways to get your message out there.

Here is an exercise you can do. Take a sheet of paper and draw a big circle on it. Divide the circle into sections like spokes of a wheel. Eight sections should do just fine to start. Now, in each section, write one of the ways you currently market yourself. Continue until all eight sections are filled in. If you can’t fill these in completely, you have some work to do. Read on for some suggestions. If you have more than eight, add more spokes to your wheel.

Once this exercise is complete, evaluate each spoke. Do you have solid results to prove that each of these activities are working? If not, get rid of that spoke. You should not waste time or money on anything that does not produce measurable results. Continue with each spoke until you have evaluated each one.

In the newly created empty spokes (or if all of your spokes are working well and you are ready to add more to your wheel), consider other channels you have yet to try. To get you started, here is a list of channels that work well for many of our clients —

  • Printed Monthly Newsletters ( I know I talk about this a lot but it WORKS! Just try it for a few months)
  • Weekly or Monthly Ezines
  • Networking Events
  • Offer of a FREE Gift, Contest Entry, FREE Report or Valuable Information (to generate leads and attract new clients)
  • Free Teleseminars, Webinars, Live Events
  • Article Marketing
  • Video Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Speaking Engagements

These are just a few ways to market your business that you may not have thought about before. If you are unfamiliar with any of these and need help in this area, this is what we do. Don’t hesitate to get help and invest in yourself and your business.

But most importantly, make a vow to do somethings you haven’t done before. The more places you are, the more chances you will be seen and the more opportunities will come your way.
