With 80% of Americans between 18-49 years of age wanting whiter teeth, there’s plenty of demand for teeth-whitening services. If you offer this service in your practice but are having trouble booking appointments for it, you may need to rethink how you’re marketing it to new and existing patients.

Having a strategic marketing plan in place can make existing and potential patients aware of the service, educate them on teeth whitening, and get them to book a whitening session with your practice.

Offer Lifetime Whitening

If you want to have steadier clientele with this service, consider offering a lifetime package. You can work this service into their regular hygiene appointments, as well, by offering touch-ups at those appointments as part of their whitening routine.

Your lifetime package can also be geared towards brand-new patients looking to whiten their teeth. Most people aren’t sure how many treatments to buy, so giving them a lifetime option makes it easier for them to make a decision. Some people are smokers or coffee drinkers and, since they know that this affects their teeth color, having a lifetime option will benefit them, knowing they will always have a white smile with this package.

Shade Guide

Marketing to existing patients in your practice through a shade guide will keep the conversation from getting awkward. Showing a shade guide at every new patient visit and once a year for existing patients, is a non-confrontational way to show patients what shade they currently are and where they can be with your teeth-whitening service.

When patients see the shade guide and choose the shade they want to be, it makes it easy for you to educate them on what it will take to get them to the shade they want.

People always want a whiter smile around big get-togethers, such as holidays and events. This is also a great way to get referrals, because, if an existing patient gets their teeth whitened, they will probably tell their friends and family about it, and post about it on social media.

Another way to reach to existing patients is by having marketing material geared towards events such as weddings. Brides and grooms always want a whiter smile for their big day. If you have posters in your office about it, they’ll know to ask you about it, or patients who are their friends or family members can mention it to them.

Evaluate Your Website

Is your website sharing your teeth-whitening service with your visitors? You’ll want to make sure it’s prominently-featured, and not hidden away where they’re not likely to find it. Add before-and-after pictures to show people the results they can expect.

This is also a great place to add the shade guide, asking people where they currently are in the guide and where they’d like to be. Then have a call to action, asking them to make an appointment right away.

Tagging your patients is going to give you the opportunity to connect to new potential patients because their online friends will see your post.

Time to Add Some Video

Adding video to your site and social media to share your teeth whitening service will increase your chances of showing up in search results when people are searching for this service in your area. Using video is a great way to connect with your existing patients and potential patients, too, and it’s also a perfect way to engage with them.
