I attended a conference last week on Social Media Marketing. Since this is ‘done for you’ service we offer our clients, it’s important we keep educated on the latest and greatest tips and strategies others are having success with.

The conference was not about how to do Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, but how to take these platforms and others and make them really work for you. Believe it or not, there are ways to make social media work for any business. If you have been ignoring this and thinking it’s kids stuff, you are simply cutting out another slice of your marketing pie. It is truly a powerful way to get attention online and with Google’s (and other search engine’s) focus on all things social media, this is something you should be paying attention to and figuring out how you can jump on board.

What I found interesting at the conference was that even though the marketing for this event specifically stated that this was not a “How To” seminar, there were still about 40% of the attendees who did not understand the basic fundamentals of social media, online marketing and even traditional marketing.

Many of their questions were along these lines, “How do I post a video to my blog?”, “Should I have multiple Facebook Fan Pages if I have different businesses?”,  “Where should I host my blog?”, “Once I get them to opt-in, what should I do next?”, etc .  They were hungry for all kinds of information like this.

To be honest it kind of slowed down the conference and probably prevented some more advanced questions from being asked but it got me thinking about you and how we might be able to help.
